Polycystic Ovaries

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder that can lead to irregular ovulation and fertility issues. Dr. Maha is well-versed in managing PCOS and customises treatment approaches to regulate ovulation, balance hormone levels, and enhance the likelihood of conception.

Male Sub-Fertility

Fertility concerns aren’t limited to women; male sub-fertility can also be a significant factor in infertility. Dr. Maha offers comprehensive assessments and innovative treatments for male sub-fertility issues, addressing factors such as sperm quality, count, and motility.

Recurrent Implantation Failure

For individuals or couples who have experienced multiple failed attempts at pregnancy despite undergoing IVF, recurrent implantation failure is a complex and often disheartening challenge. Dr. Maha is dedicated to uncovering the underlying factors contributing to this issue and tailoring personalised treatment plans for each patient.

Tubal Disorders

Tubal disorders, such as blockages or damage to the fallopian tubes, can obstruct the natural path of fertilisation. Dr. Maha provides expertise in addressing tubal disorders through advanced surgical procedures or assisted reproductive technologies, ensuring that the fertilisation process can occur effectively.

Uterine Disorders

Uterine disorders, including fibroids and structural abnormalities, can hinder successful implantation and pregnancy. Dr. Maha specialises in diagnosing and treating uterine conditions, utilising minimally invasive techniques when possible. By optimising the uterine environment, we aim to increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy and birth.

Navigate the journey to parenthood with confidence, knowing you have a team dedicated to your well-being.

Early Pregnancy Problems

Hormonal imbalances as in low progesterone can influence the chances of the pregnancy being able to reach viability levels. Progesterone supplements have increased the chances of having a live birth according to the PRISM trial (2019).

Management of Menstrual Disorders

Dr. Maha is an experienced clinician and is an expert in the management of all gynaecological problems including menstrual disorders. She can see and manage a wide range of issues including painful periods, heavy periods, pre-menstrual tension disorders and manage these conditions both conservatively or with surgical treatments where necessary.

All Fertility Problems

Dr. Maha specialises in all fertility issues including managing and optimising chances of natural fertility by a thorough clinical history taking and identifying any correctable issues such as vitamin deficiencies, thyroid issues, managing hormonal imbalances and correcting pelvic infections that can impede the natural chances of conception.

Advice and instituting the right contraception goes a long way in managing unwanted conception. Dr. Maha specialises in advising on all the different types of contraception available and surgical tubal ligations where needed.

Recurrent Miscarriages and Recurrent Implantation Failure

This is defined as experiencing 3 or more miscarriages in a row or the inability to conceive after the transfer of 3 or more good quality embryos which have failed to achieve a pregnancy. It is a devastating experience albeit uncommon and affects about 1% of couples.

Dr. Maha's treatment plans are centred around the individual patient and their needs with attention to detail with careful charting of treatment protocols to get the best out of the treatment possible.

Intrauterine Insemination

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a minimally invasive fertility treatment designed to enhance the chances of sperm meeting the egg. Under the guidance of our experienced team, IUI is a simple, efficient, and cost-effective solution that can be a vital step in your fertility journey. The process involves ovulation induction to the point of ovulation and placing a concentrated specially prepared sample of sperm directly into the uterus.

Surgery to Optimise Fertility

Dr. Maha is specially fine tuned to recommend and carry out surgery to optimise fertility including the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, removal of damaged tubes, removal of ovarian cysts, dermoid cysts, ovarian drilling designed to optimise PCO, removal of congenital uterine septa, polyps and fibroids.

Egg Freezing

Egg freezing, or oocyte cryopreservation, allows individuals to preserve their fertility for future family planning. Whether it’s for medical reasons or personal choice, our clinic is equipped to provide the utmost care and support in preserving your reproductive options.

Natural Cycle IVF

Natural cycle or minimal stimulation IVF is particularly useful for older woman with poor ovarian reserve where normal IVF stimulation does not produce results. The treatment involves either following a natural cycle through to egg retrieval or by using minimal medications to facilitate a better choice of eggs in an environment of poor egg numbers and quality.

Male Infertility

Infertility can affect 8-9 % of males and in 1 in 5 cases male infertility alone is the cause. Male infertility can be due to poor sperm production or due to a blockage in the tubes that feed the sperm into the penis. There are many reasons for this and early assessment with the specialist is recommended.

What is the first step in starting fertility treatment?

The initial step is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Maha. During this comprehensive appointment, your medical history will be reviewed, and necessary tests will be conducted to determine the most suitable fertility treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

The whole range of treatments from ovulation induction, to tracking, IUI, IVF, ICSI, Egg freezing, sperm freezing, addressing male factor subfertility, surgical sperm retrievals and sperm freezing and treatment with known egg or sperm donor is available to the patients. Treatment protocols are usually recommended after a thorough investigation of the couples’ history and results with tailored treatment plans to get the best outcomes for the patients.

Treatments such as Ovulation tracking or induction and IUI are all designed to work within the remit of a normal menstrual cycle over a period of 2 weeks for the treatment and up to 4 weeks until pregnancy test.

IVF treatment can take up to 5 weeks.

Some insurers cover parts of the treatment such as the day case charges and fees to undergo egg collection and surgical sperm collection. The IVF/ICSI treatment is bilk billed through Medicare ,which them markedly reduces cost of treatment overall. Even the fertility medications are subsidised.
